Valencia’s Oceanografic, the largest aquarium in Europe

With 40.000 animals of 500 different species, including fish, mammals, birds, reptiles and invertebrates, the Oceanografic in Valencia does not disappoint anyone who goes there. An incredible experience in a unique environment!
In Valencia, the capital of the Valencian Community, is the largest aquarium in Europe. We are of course talking about the great Oceanografic in the City of Arts and Sciences. Normally the City of Arts and Sciences has an avant-garde style, which was designed by the famous and controversial architect Santiago Calatrava in 1998. Within this small city full of knowledge, is the Oceanografic and it represents the marine ecosystems on earth.
As previously mentioned, the Oceanografic is the largest aquarium in Europe, which is why there are a lot of areas to be explored. So please bear in mind that the different areas of the ecosystems can be visited and that it would be wise to divide your time over these different areas.
Mediterranean. This is probably the aquarium that will require a lot of attention, mainly because it is an area where there are a total of 7000 fish and invertebrates that characterise the Mediterranean Sea.
Wetlands/ Aviary. This section is actually not an aquarium, but it is a sphere of about 26 meters high and it is isolated. There are a large number of exotic birds represented from all around the world.
Temperate/ Tropical. This area is one of the most popular areas, mostly for having tropical clown fish, they really are an explosion of colour and beauty that must be seen in person.
Oceans/ Sharks. The aquarium in this area is the largest in the entire Oceanografic. The reason is simple: quite a lot of sharks live in this aquarium and they need space. If you are afraid, don’t worry, because at the exit you will enter directly into the crocodile zone, a whole tour of predators that will render you speechless.
Antarctic/ Penguins. In this area you can see both the famous belugas and the penguins, located in an igloo 12 meters high, it will not escape your attention.
These are the most famous areas, however we cannot forget the Red Sea area in which you can enjoy a unique view of the coral reefs of the world.
