Valencia and its parks

Green areas all around, which you can enjoy alone or in good company. Valencia is full of nature and in this article we’ll tell you which parks suit you best.

Whether you live in Valencia for its fantastic Mediterranean climate, its proximity to the sea or its abundance in nature: in Valencia life is better outdoors. Hence the great variety of parks the city offers. If you like to exercise, walk your dog or just want to go outside, keep reading because you’re about to find which park is ideal for you.

We have all tried it at least once, and have experienced the dangers of it as a consequence: running in the city. There are cars all around, who don’t respect the avid runners or cyclists too much, so danger of being run over is always there. If that wasn’t enough, the air is so polluted that it’s not entirely beneficial for your health to go for a run in conditions like these. Not to worry though, Valencia has many safe parks, all you need to do is pick one!

The Cabecera park, which is located on Avenida Pio Baroja, is one of the best parks with excellent conditions for joggers. Given its great length, it is an ideal place to go for a run or cycle through. You can also see how the city goes from an urban environment to a more natural environment as you move along the old Turia river.

It has three main paths: Paseo del Molí del Sol, the Ribera path and the climb up to the viewpoint. There is a great lake that begins at Paseo del Molí, whose streams pass through almost the entire area. In this lake you can rent boats and enjoy the calm and peaceful environment. On top of that, there is a 15 meter viewpoint, in case you want to do a little workout.

There are other parks, like the one in the West, next to Avenida del Cid, which have outdoor gym equipment and there is even a swimming pool just a few meters away. Because of its proximity to the pool, we highly recommend you go there in summer.

There is also a lot of outdoor fun offered. So we have selected open air spaces, where you can have fun and reconnect with your inner child. There is Oceanogràfic, which has two areas inspired by the marine world. If you want something more spectacular, there is Gulliver Park (named after the famous tale). It is located in the Turia gardens and after having been open for more than 25 years, its facilities continue to be guaranteed fun for all Valencians and visitors, young and old alike.

At this point, we only need to recommend you places to go for a stroll or to walk your dog, so that you both are happy and recharged with energy. The dog park, also located in the Turia Garden, under the Puente de las Artes (Art Bridge), is the perfect place to train your pet and show off the special connection that you both have.
The dog park has a circuit with seesaws, tunnels, wheels… Don’t worry, they come with an explanation! There is a poster that shows you how it all works, so you can at least give it a try. Should your pet not feel like it, or disobey your orders, there is a space where they can walk around freely a little further on in the Turia gardens, so you can rest for a while on a bench.

It’s a wrap! These are the main parks that can be found in the heart of Valencia. So if you want to have a good time outdoors, and not spend a single euro, we recommend you go there.
