Thousands of litres of Horchata and free orange juice on March 10 and 11
Could you imagine the Valencian Fallas without the two traditional drinks? Neither could I! Fallas would not be the same without them. Traditionally, litres of refreshing and delicious orange juice and Horchata are distributed free to the public.
This year, the ‘Gran Horchatada’ and the ‘Naranjada Fallera’ are coming to Valencia. In this festival, around 8,000 glasses of Horchata and orange juice are distributed next to the Plaza de Toros in Valencia between 12:00 and 14:00, right before the Mascletàs. This is done in order to encourage local trade and Valencian traditions.
If you want to cool off before entering the Mascletà, go to the Plaza del Toros, where you will find stands at the doors of the arena. The tiger nut flavoured Horchata gives guarantee of origin and quality offered by the Denomination of Origin, while the freshly squeezed orange juice is endorsed by the Regulatory Council of Valencian Citrus and offered by the company Valencian ZUMMO with its next-generation juicers.
On Tuesday the 10th of March, 2000 litres of freshly squeezed orange juice will be distributed between 12:00 and 14:00, just before the Mascletà. The following day, a thousand litres of authentic horchata will be distributed.
In addition to these free Valencian drinks, there will also be various DJs and Valencian producers from PRODJ who will enliven the evening. The Tourism Board "València Turisme" will distribute tourist information about Valencia to publicize all the wonderful things in the capital of Turia.
So, is there a better plan than sipping an horchata and / or free orange juice before enjoying the long-awaited Mascletà? No, there is not. Make sure to go and try these delicious drinks.
