The Thyssen Museum comes to Valencia for the first time ever

The “Paradise” exhibition by the Bancaja Foundation can be found outside of Madrid and Malaga for the first time in 15 years. The exhibition holds work made by impressionists like Pissarro, Monet and Gauguin.
On Friday 14th of February 2020, the Bancaja Foundation inaugurated the “Paradise, European and American impressionism” exhibition together with Baroness Carmen Thyssen. This exhibition consists of fifty hundred medium and large-format canvases signed by 37 artists from the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid, the Carmen Tyssen in Málaga and the Baroness’s private collection.
An exhibition which focuses on nature and how the individual goes through different ways of expressing that on canvas. These different ways align with the pictorial style, formed by impressionism and its relevant role during the time that art history became popular.
The exhibition is divided into three parts. The first, which is called “The soul of the landscape”, represents the contrasts between the calm characteristics and the swift characteristics of this century. In this part you will also find a portrait of a human being that is being confused by nature itself.
The second part is called “Garden in the world”, and it portrays a, by humans, domesticated nature, where the human beings are fully aware of their ability to enjoy the idyllic surroundings. This is how paintings such as those by the Spanish Miralles, Bruguera, Pinós or Regoyos let you glimpse into their world.
The third part is called “Discovered paradises”, where more everyday-like scenes are shown and the individual is portrayed as a symbol.
The exhibition can be visited from February 15 to June 28 2020, at the headquarters of the Bancaja Foundation (Plaza Tetuán 23) from Tuesday to Sunday (from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.), on Monday (from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and on holidays (10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.).
The general entry costs €3 and a reduced entry is €1. You can enter for free on Sundays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
