The pure nature of Montanejos

Between Teruel and Valencia lies Montanejos, a town with very interesting mountains. In the eleventh century it was populated by Arabs, who built the castle and the watchtowers. Montanejos is also known for its natural setting in which you can enjoy natural lakes that are entered through the mountains, hiking trails and caves.
Baths fountain
One of the tourist attractions is the source of Baths. The water from this source is particularly known for its temperature of 25 degrees throughout the year and for its composition. Everyone around the village knows about the water in this area, as it has attributed medicinal qualities.
The Straits
The source of Baths fountain comes from the Straits; this is where the river Mijares flows. The great beauty of living close to the gorge that composes it are the walls that stand over 100 meters high where you can climb.
Bathing is allowed, so all people who are curious to enter the straits will be able to enjoy the superb views, some say it feels like they are in a more exotic country.
The black cave
Montanejos is not only good for enjoying a swim in the natural environment, but you can also go hiking, because the environment is perfect for it. One of the most famous routes in the area is "the Black Cave route".
It is a 700m route with a slight slope, is suitable for almost everyone with any kind of physical background.
The curious thing about this route is the cave itself, because it is a cavity of nearly 2,300 square meters, being one of the largest in the Valencian community. Inside the cave they have found remains of the Neolithic.
Another hiking trail is the ravines of Maimona, which has exceptional views. Along the route you cross pools with crystal clear water. There are more routes with all a different length and complexity.
