The Peñón de Ifach de Calpe, symbol of the Costa Blanca

The Peñón de Ifach is quite remarkable. This mountainous rock has a height of about 332 meters from which you can see the entire Calpe coast and some of the Mediterranean coast in all its glory. To access the top of the Peñón de Ifach it is necessary to put on proper footwear and pace your breath as you have to walk and hike the entire way.

Before taking this route to the top of the Peñón de Ifach, it is useful to know that the total distance is about 4.6 kilometers. That distance contains a slope with a difference of 350 meters between the top and the bottom of the track. In addition to that it must be remembered that the route is circular, therefore the ascent will be the same as the descent. However, it is important to be very careful and avoid injuries to knees or ankles.

The approximate duration to arrive at the top is usually about two and a half hours, but it is only logical that this estimation depends on one’s physical condition. The route is divided into two sections, the first one results in the tunnel with a low difficulty and therefore accessible to everyone. The second one reaches the top of the rock and has an increased difficulty.

Another highly demanded activity in this area is snorkeling in the Mediterranean coast. When good weather is starting to come around and temperatures rise, snorkeling is one of the most popular activities on the Calpe coast. If you don’t have the necessary equipment, don’t worry because there are plenty of rental shops on and around the beaches.
