The City of Arts and Sciences, Valencia

The City of Arts and Sciences of Valencia is a group of buildings made up of six major elements, which are intended to improve scientific and technological promotion to all who attend.

THE CITY OF ARTS AND SCIENCES
A complex full of culture, nature, art and science. A unique opportunity to get closer to the world of science and technology.

Valencia’s artistic and cultural splendor can be found in the Ciutat de les Arts y les Ciènces, a unique complex dedicated to scientific and cultural spreading. This complex is in itself a work of art, designed by the architects Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela. The different buildings are built under a Mediterranean influence, with sea and light, while painted in blue and white colours, which is combined in a traditional look with a complete avant-garde style

The City of Arts and Sciences has become a symbol of the city, and not only that, but it also represents the new Valencia: a modern part within the ancient city, where millions of visitors come every year to enjoy culture, nature, art and science

The complex is made up of six major elements: the Hemisféric, which has an IMAX, 3D cinema and various digital projections, the Umbracle, a viewpoint dressed up as a garden which houses one of the most fashionable clubs in Valencia in the summer, the Museu de les Ciències, an innovative interactive science center, the Oceanografic, the largest aquarium in Europe, the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, dedicated to opera, and the Ágora, which gives the complex a multifunctional space

The main objective of the City of Arts and Sciences is to entertain and stimulate the minds of its visitors who, through the different buildings, can learn about different aspects related to science, technology, nature or art. It is about participating, interacting and enjoying unique experiences

In the Hemisféric you can let yourself be amazed with its spectacular images on a huge screen of 900 square meters. The interactive exhibitions and scientific animations of the Science Museum will present new technologies and scientific advances to the public in a very pleasant way. At the museum they are committed to promoting and spreading science and technology as fun and entertainment, without renouncing the minimum scientific rigor. It has undoubtedly become a benchmark for interactive science.

The Oceanografic offers an underwater trip through the largest aquarium in Europe. It represents the main marine ecosystems on the planet: the Mediterranean, the Wetlands, the Tropical Seas, the Oceans, the Antarctic, the Arctic, the Islands and the Red Sea, in addition to the Dolphinarium. It also organizes a multitude of activities, both for professionals such as recovery and conservation of sea turtles, and for the public, such as sleeping with sharks

The Palau de les Arts completes the artistic component that represents the commitment of the Generalitat. This Palau has become a cultural hotspot that places the Valencian Community in a privileged place. The Umbracle is a viewpoint of more than 17.500 square meters with an exhibition area and a large parking lot inside.

The Ágora is a space with great versatility, which allows hosting events of various kinds. It is a multifunctional venue prepared for celebrations such as congresses, conventions, concerts, or even performances.

The City of Arts and Sciences has become one of the main cultural hotspot for cultural spreading. Discover all the scientific and technological news from an informative point of view and let yourself be amazed by the surprising buildings.
