BIOPARC Valencia, one of the most important parks in Spain

Bioparc is all but a conventional zoo, it recreates the species’ natural habitat, in which their biological and physiological needs are understood and then reproduced as much as possible. This park prioritizes respect for animals and their behaviour, and strives to protect the biodiversity of our planet against the threat of climate change and human destruction.

BIOPARC, A UNIQUE ZOO-IMMERSION
A state-of-the-art zoo that fights for the conservation and preservation of its species and their natural environment. 

At the end of the Parque de la Cabecera you will find Bioparc, a new type of zoo. Valencia is home to one of the most important zoo experiences in Spain, and it is only 4 kilometers away from the city center. 

Bioparc is a unique zoo that respects the natural habitat of each species as it occurs in nature. It is recreated in such a way, that humans can enter their habitat without interrupting their life. 



There is 100.000 square meters that covers Bioparc and represents the wild nature of the African continent, among them you can recognise the equatorial forest, Madagascar, the great wetlands and the savanna. Animals, vegetation and landscape form a scene that allows visitors to learn about the relationships between organisms and elements that make up ecosystems, in such a way that it helps them to understand how they work, and it encourages them to conserve them. And that is the idea on which Bioparc is based: in making the visitors see the beauty in conserving the environment. 

Bioparc works on the conservation and the preservation of the animal world and its entire ecosystem, especially because the planet and its biodiversity is deteriorating at an alarming rate. Through this zoo, Bioparc aims to serve as a platform for changing society’s behaviour. That is why, the Department of Education of Bioparc Valencia was created. It is made up of a team of professionals with experience in the field of education, biology and conservation. They carry out visits and educational talks in order to teach an important lesson: to love and to conserve nature. 



The conservation of the environment, and the fact that the habitats of the different species are similar to the ones that they are used to, are priorities in this park. Through the Bioparc Foundation, they can provide direct help to different species in their natural environment. Bioparc is also a part of organisations such as AIZA (Iberian Association of Zoos and Aquariums) and EAZA (European Association of Zoos and Aquariums) through which it promotes animal welfare, sustainable and genetically viable breeding, as well as promoting research and spreading scientific knowledge. 

Bioparc also organises daily activities, like training or activities for charity, such as the parade to adopt (abandoned) dogs in the Bioparc café, where speeches are held on a regular basis.

Visiting Bioparc is not only an experience of discovering the animal world and its natural habitat, but it is also helping with the conservation and preservation of biodiversity, always with respect for animals and their natural behaviour.
